The special meeting of the PAS central working committee unanimously decided to propose the names of two candidates to replace Khalid Ibrahim as Selangor Menteri Besar (MB).

According to PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu, the two names nominated were PKR president Dr Wan Azizah and PKR deputy president, Azmin Ali.

“This decision was reached after lengthy discussions and deliberations.

“PAS will remain committed to Pakatan Rakyat (Pakatan) in implementing Tahaluf Siyasi,” he said in a press conference at the PAS headquarters.

He added that the duties of the four Selangor state executive councillors from PAS would not be affected as they would remain in the state government and continue to serve the people of Selangor.

“PAS will not offer any of its own candidates for the office of Selangor MB and will continue to respect the Pakatan spirit in nominating possible candidates for the post.

“The decision was reached by consensus,” he said.

Later today, all three parties of PKR, DAP and PAS will attend a special meeting to determine the two candidates.

The letter of agreement to nominate the two names as MB has been signed by the President of PAS, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

Mohamad Sabu also clarified that Khalid no longer enjoyed the support of PAS because he was expelled from his party, PKR.

“There is no longer the question of whether we support Khalid or not, because he is no longer a member of PKR,” he said.

When asked by reporters what the criteria was behind Azimin’s nomination as MB, PAS secretary-general Datuk Musatafa Ali replied, “Why not Azmin?”
