Oh! Pakatan Rakyat!

The difference between a democracy and a dictatorship is that in a democracy you vote first and take orders later; in a dictatorship you don’t have to waste your time voting — Charles Bukowski
The 2013 general election was a waste of people’s time. It was a meaningless election fuelled with big words; ‘Reformasi’, ‘Ubah’, ‘Ini Kalilah’, and a long list of propaganda theme that took the nation for a true revolution in Malaysian spirit.
A year after 2013, the leaders whom we trusted with our votes betrayed the very essence of morality and public trust. No need to mention names but the leaders who campaigned on morality, principle, leadership, transparency and so many words that gave the people mental orgasms are truly world finest performers.
I admire their intelligence for public manipulation. It’s like being in the movie The Usual Suspects. Just like Kevin Spacey in the movie, the story telling act of the leaders are world-class. If you need convincing, just watch the You Tube videos of the leaders. The theatrics performance would give Broadway run for their money. I think I take the privilege of calling them ‘performers’ not ‘leaders’.
Now we are at crossroads in deciding if Khalid Ibrahim is a performer like rest of them or truly a leader. I’ve been toying with the idea that Khalid Ibrahim is a performer and the rest of them are leaders. But that does not fit the equation based on the current and past events. Khalid Ibrahim was the rock star for PR’s Selangor election campaign. They promoted Khalid Ibrahim to such greater height that no Chief Minister in Malaysian history could be better than him.
The ‘Kajang Move’ marked the beginning of the end for Pakatan Rakyat. The ‘Kajang Move’ would go down in history at the ‘worst’ strategy initiated by a political party. The move exposed the true nature of Pakatan Rakyat leaders. The character assassination propaganda worked so well in the past, but when the same strategy applied on Khalid Ibrahim, it brought humiliation and public disgrace.
The stars from GE 2013 were made to eat humble pie. I think it’s more of a comedy than tragedy. The performers were supposed to perform a serious play. In the turn of events, it became a comedy and the public had the best laugh. It was truly entertaining.
The leaders underestimate the public’s intelligence. The effect is detrimental and would cause few years to win back the public trust. The strong foundation build from GE 2008 and GE 2013 destroyed with the iconic ‘Kajang Move’. Historian should write about this in the history text book.
I am still undecided if Khalid Ibrahim should stay or go. It will be a subject that the public could debate and decide. With or without Khalid Ibrahim, the show must go on. At least Khalid Ibrahim leaves behind legacies such as ‘the Dawn Raid’, ‘CEO of the Year’, best Selangor Chief Minister, etc.
To the ‘comedians’ involved in the ‘Kajang Move’, I’m not sure what they will be remembered for. What are your legacies? That the question the leaders should ask themselves. The Selangor people are the victim of the move. For political mileage, the public’s interest has been sacrificed.
For the leaders whom involved in ‘Kajang Move’, it is like a producing the worst pop song ever and everyone knows it. At least Kajang will be remembered for two things from now on ‘ Kajang Move’ and Kajang Satay. I choose Kajang satay anytime.
Last but not least, the power is with the people not politicians. Democracy is a strange creature. Understand it and use it to your advantage.
