RoS hauls up PKR over Khalid’s sacking
(The Malaysian Insider) – The Registrar of Societies (RoS) has called up PKR over the sacking of Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, the PKR disciplinary board chairman said today.
Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong said he had received a fax from the RoS at 3pm yesterday and he would be meeting officials tomorrow, together with fellow member R. Sivarasa.
“The ROS summoned the party over the alleged wrongdoing of the disciplinary board and the central leadership and the letter was from its enforcement division head ASP Akmal Yahaya,” he told The Malaysian Insider by phone today.
Dr Tan said the letter stated that they were being investigated under Section 66 of the Societies Act 1966, which allowed it to summon anyone who can provide details into a case or complaint it is investigating.
Khalid, who is also the Selangor menteri besar (MB), was sacked from PKR on August 9, after defying orders to step down and make way for party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to replace him.
“He made a statement on July 22 that he was not going to quit and up till today he has yet to quit.
“On this basis the disciplinary board is of the view he has to be sacked,” Dr Tan said during the August 9 press conference.
