(The Star) – There is no point in Selangor government having RM3bil in reserve if the welfare of the people are not taken care of said PKR president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah (pic).

She said that issues such as roads, blocked drains, cleanliness and dengue cases were a basic right of the people.

“Selangor has the highest rate of dengue in the country.

“The dengue rate in the state has gone up by 338% with 29972 cases,” she told delegates during the 10th annual PKR congress Saturday.

According to the Health Ministry, dengue cases in Selangor have spiked by 338%, with 29,972 cases recorded between January and July 27, as compared to only 6,842 cases for the same period last year.

“Why don’t we take the initiative to change so that Selangor is free of Aedes mosquitoes,” added the Kajang representative.

Pakatan Rakyat have agreed to Wan Azizah replacing Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim as Selangor Mentri Besar.

Wan Azizah also said that Selangor should be a model state for Pakatan Rakyat.

Under Khalid, Selangor has amassed reserves of more than RM3bil.

Khalid who was expelled from PKR recently has been criticised for being too stingy in releasing money for the state.
