PKR sacks, suspends members for open dissent in Selangor MB crisis
(Malay Mail Online) – PKR has sacked one of its members and suspended four others for their public show of defiance against the party’s decision to remove Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim from the Selangor mentri besar post, disciplinary board chairman Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong said today.
The sacked individual was culled for burning the party’s flag and publicising his antics on social media while the remaining four were suspended for appearing in a press conference to defend Khalid.
Khalid himself was terminated by his party a few weeks ago for opposing his ouster.
Tan said Aidil Haryman Nor from PKR’s Kuantan branch was sacked for tarnishing the party’s image and credibility with his actions.
“He also admitted to this action of burning the party flag and had dared to be sacked,” said Tan of Aidil, who is believed to have committed the act out of frustration with the party’s decision to remove Khalid.
The four who were suspended and given show-cause letters were Dr Wan Suhaimi Wan Daud from its Pasir Mas branch, Nasiruddin Mohamad (Sepang), Abdul Rahim Abdul Wahab (Selayang), and Rosmah Suly (Batu).
The four had on August 20 attended a press conference of Persatuan Anak Selangor Menyokong Mentri Besar (PASMEB), an NGO formed in support of Khalid, Tan said.
Selangor was thrown into a leadership crisis after PKR sacked Khalid for refusing to yield his position to party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Khalid then hit back, lodging a complaint with the Registrar of Societies (RoS), alleging PKR of breaching party constitution with his “unlawful and illegal” sacking.
The RoS has since started its probe into PKR for alleged “misconduct” at the top levels in PKR, according to a member of the party’s central committee R. Sivarasa.
PKR was informed of the investigation through a letter from RoS,and Dr Tan is expected to appear before the agency’s headquarters on August 28.
