PKR polls chief slams youth wing walkout, insists election was fair
(Malay Mail Online) – PKR election chief Datuk Johari Abdul has hit out at several party leaders for staging a walkout yesterday in protest of Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad’s appointment as youth chief, labelling their behaviour immature.
“Some do not want to accept defeat and do not want to accept that some will win and some will lose,” he said today during his speech at the PKR national congress here.
“We have no interest, we want leaders or calibre who can do their job,” he added.
It is understood that the committee members are upset with the official results of the youth wing contest as they believe that Batu Caves assemblyman Amirudin Shaari should have won the post.
Seri Setia assemblyman Nik Nazmi said he was willing to meet the committee members and work with them,” calling it a “disagreement” among family members.
PKR’s prolonged election process has caused much dissatisfaction among some of its members, with some questioning the integrity of the results.
Party leaders like Azmin Ali and Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin have called on members to close ranks and unite ahead of its annual congress which begins today and ends on Sunday.
