(The Star) – PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has told party detractors that they can leave if they have lost confidence in the leadership.

In defending the family of PKR defacto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim over accusations of nepotism, Rafizi likened their struggle to the Gandhi family in India.

“One of the strongest attacks of nepotism against Anwar and his family has come from within the party.

“Some of these accusations have even come from delegates present here today but now they will not dare admit it,” he said during his winding-up speech at the 10th PKR annual congress, here, Sunday.

Rafizi said the term “Istana Bukit Segambut” had come from within the party. “Enough of saying such things,” he said in reference to Anwar’s family home.

He also challenged the detractors within the party to challenge Anwar and his family members via a democratic process in the party polls.

“If you are not confident with the party and the struggle of its leaders to fight corruption, you are welcome to leave,” Rafizi added.

Anwar’s wife Datuk Dr Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is the PKR president while his daughter Nurul Izzah Anwar is vice-president.
