Pas Selangor commissioner disagrees with PKR and DAP’s act of defiance

ISKANDAR ABDUL SAMAD / SUK

(NST) – Pas Selangor commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad disagrees with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and DAP’s insistence on naming only one candidate despite the Sultan of Selangor’s decree for each party to nominate more than two candidates to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as menteri besar.

“We have to conform to the Sultan’s decree,” Iskandar said when contacted.

Iskandar was responding to the act of defiance by PKR and DAP, who jointly issued a statement on Tuesday night stating that they would submit only one name, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah as a candidate for menteri besar.

Asked whether Selangor Pas would nominate one of their own for the soon to be vacant menteri besar post, Iskandar said no decision has been made and a meeting would be held tonight to discuss the matter, including others.

“I do not know. We have to wait for the meeting tonight or tomorrow to decide on that matter, said Iskandar.

Yesterday, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah decreed that each Pakatan party nominate more than two names for the post of menteri besar after receiving Khalid’s resignation letter during an audience at Istana Bukit Kayangan.

However, His Highness had asked Khalid to continue serving until he picked a suitable candidate.
