No Selangor MB candidate from PAS, says party’s state chief

PAS Selangor commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad today said that no assemblyman from the party was proposed to its central committee as a Selangor menteri besar candidate.
Instead, he said that at the meeting between Selangor PAS and the party’s secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali in Shah Alam on Wednesday, it was agreed that PAS would nominate two names from PKR.
“Selangor PAS did not give any names. We just gave our opinion to the central committee about this issue,” he said, dismissing claims that four names from PAS were given as MB candidates in the meeting.
The four names allegedly nominated for the MB position include Selangor PAS deputy commissioner 1 Sallehen Mukhyi, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi (Selangor PAS treasurer), Mohd Haslin Hassan (Tanjung Sepat assemblyman) and Iskandar himself.
“I don’t know about these claims,” he said.
Practically, Iskandar said, Selangor PAS could submit nominations of party members to the party’s central committee, but it was bound by the agreement in Pakatan Rakyat that the MB seat belonged to PKR.
After getting the “green light” from Selangor PAS, the proposed names would then be discussed during a PAS central committee meeting before they are presented to the Sultan of Selangor before September 3.
The Cempaka assemblyman said, the decision was made out of respect to the Sultan’s orders that at least two names be proposed in order to make it easier to appoint the most suitable candidate.
