Selangor MB crisis: ‘Rafizi has insulted PKR assemblymen’
(The Star) – A PKR assemblyman has called party vice-president Rafizi Ramli arrogant and told him not to impose his opinions on others.
Sri Muda assemblyman Shuhaimi Shafiei (pix) said Rafizi assumed that he was the only one qualified to give his views that were then forced upon others.
He was responding to an earlier statement by Rafizi telling all Selangor PKR assemblymen to decline if their names were nominated to replace incumbent Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim.
“He has insulted all PKR assemblymen and has insinuated that we are not able to make a stand of our own,” said Shuhaimi in a statement on Friday.
Shuhaimi also said that it was time for PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to step in as Rafizi’s behaviour has gone too far.
He added that Rafizi did not have the right to cast doubts and question the assemblymen’s loyalty towards their party.
The Pandan MP had said that PKR state legislators should declare their unwavering support for party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail in respect of the party’s decision to name her as the sole candidate.
Rafizi said this after Seri Setia assemblyman Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad issued a statement declining his nomination as the alternative candidate by PAS Youth chief Suhaizan Kayat.
On Wednesday, PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali said the party would submit more than one name to Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah for consideration, but maintained that the mentri besar post belongs to PKR.
Pakatan has until Sept 3 to submit the names to the palace, but PKR and DAP are adamant on their choice of a single candidate.
