(The Star) – PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang is remaining tight-lipped on what the party’s next course of action will be in regard to nominating the new Selangor mentri besar.

His aide, Mohd Adram Musa, told reporters on Saturday that the party would convene its next syura council and central committee meeting soon to discuss recent developments, including the Selangor MB crisis.

“Tuan Guru (Hadi) does not wish to speak to the press at the moment. Let things settle down first, the PAS leadership will have a meeting soon to discuss important issues concerning the party,” he said.

Hadi had earlier delivered a keynote address at a Merdeka forum organised by PAS.

Meanwhile, Selangor PAS deputy commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi said the party had no intention to go against Pakatan Rakyat’s consensus and name a PAS candidate for the MB post.

“No, there is no intention,” he said when pressed by reporters.

The Selangor MB seat currently belongs to PKR, as agreed upon by the component parties in Pakatan.

However, PAS has so far refused to solely endorse PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail for the job, despite PKR and DAP agreeing to nominate only one name to Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah for consideration.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali said on Wednesday that the party would comply with the Sultan’s request to submit more than two names for the post of MB.

He confirmed that the party’s choice of third candidate would also be from PKR, but did not reveal who it would be.

The party had initially planned to submit the name of PKR deputy president Azmin Ali alongside Dr Wan Azizah’s.
