Zul Noordin: Use ISA against people criticising Selangor Sultan
(The Rakyat Post) – Former Perkasa vice-president Datuk Zulkifli Noordin has called for the return of the Internal Security Act (ISA) to prosecute quarters who labelled the Selangor sultan as a “royal rubber stamp”.
In his blog posting yesterday, the former Kulim-Bandar Baharu Member of Parliament said ever since the demise of the act, many quarters had revealed their animalistic, chauvinistic and parasitic nature by questioning the powers of the monarchy in light of the Selangor Menteri Besar crisis.
“There are those who dispute this power, claiming it undemocratic.
“Supposedly people have made a choice at the ballot box for the Opposition PKR-DAP-PAS to become the government, so it should be up to them to determine who is to be the Menteri Besar.”
He argued, without mentioning names, that these quarters preferred if the Selangor Sultan merely gave his nod of approval while others preferred that the powers of the sultan be revoked.
“These extremist elements are not only rude and disrespectful, but they are traitors who should be punished severely!
“They are blind and do not know the history of the country!”
Zulkifli then went on to explain that according to the Federation of Malaya Agreement, the powers of the rulers in all nine states were absolute.
“This means that the absolute power to appoint a Menteri Besar still remains in the hands of the Sultan. The only difference being whether there is a pool of qualified candidates among the assemblymen who meet the required conditions.”
He explained that the conditions required were that the candidate was a Malay Muslim who had the majority support from the state assemblymen.
