Selangor MB crisis: PAS threatens to expose Wan Azizah lobbyists

(The Star) – Selangor PAS has threatened to expose the name of a lobbyist group said to be actively trying to entice its assemblymen to sign the Statutory Declaration in support of Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the sole Mentri Besar candidate.

Its secretary Mohd Khairuddin Othman said they were aware of such attempts, as 13 PAS assemblymen had refused to sign the SD.

“We know who are involved. We have the full information.

“And we will name the lobbyist if they continue playing this game,” he said.

So far, only two PAS representatives, Hulu Kelang assemblyman Saari Sungib and Morib assemblyman Hasnul Baharuddin had signed the SDs, joining all 15 DAP assemblymen and 13 PKR assemblymen, breaking away from the party’s official decision against doing so.

In KLANG, the state PAS Dewan Ulama has severely chastised Saari and Hasnul.

In a statement issued after its muktamar on Sunday, the influential Dewan Ulama said it had unanimously passed a motion to condemn the action by the two assemblymen and would urge the party’s disciplinary committee to initiate the necessary against them under article 82 of the party’s consitution.

When contacted Saari said he may or may not be hauled up to face the disciplinary committee for signing the statutory declaration.

“If I am called up by the committee, I will explain my reasons for doing so,” he said.

Saari said he still stood by his decision to join the 13 PKR and 15 DAP assemblymen in signing the statutory declarations supporting Dr Wan Azizah.

“It was done to settle the state’s mentri besar crisis as well as to give majority support for the new candidate,” he said.

Last week, Terengganu PAS Ulama had called on the party to sack both Saari and Hasnul for breaching party disciplines, as they had put the interest of others before the party.

Khairuddin said more states would likely make similar calls against the two assemblymen who had clearly breached party discipline.
