Police report against body ‘for sowing seeds of hatred against govt’

(Rakyat Times) – Musli claims that SSKM is working with the United Borneo Front (UBF) and the Gabungan Perpaduan Sabah (GPS), and a few non-governmental organisations are in the process of collecting 300,000 signatures for a petition towards self-determination.

While Solidariti Masyarakat Sabah (SMS) members share the same sentiments as Sabah Sarawak Keluar Malaysia (SSKM), they are not exactly in sync with the idea of leaving the Federation of Malaysia.

SMS pro-tem president Musli Oli is of the view that the SSKM group, led by lawyer Doris Jones, was planting the seeds of hatred among Sabahans and Sarawakians against the federal government’s policies and leaders.

“Of course, we agree with them on their struggles. We also want a review of the oil royalty and the Malaysia Agreement, and we want more funds to be channelled to Sabah.

“But I believe that we can do that better if we fight for our rights within the framework of Malaysia.”

He stressed that SSKM’s intentions were good as they were trying to champion the rights of the Sabahans and Sarawakians.

But in the process, they were planting seeds of hatred among natives in the two states against the federal government and leaders, as well as Malaya, Malays and Islam.

“This is not healthy. There have been a lot of postings on the social media — Facebook, Twitter, newsletters, blogs and videos on YouTube, calling our leaders names and likening them to animals.

“I may agree with the sentiments they are fighting for, but leaving Malaysia is not exactly the answer,” Musli said when met after lodging a report on SSKM at the city police headquarters in Karamunsing today.

SSKM’s Facebook page and website have been posting calls for boycott of the Aug 31 celebration of Malaysia’s 57th birthday, posts of historical articles and news articles on Sabah.

Its website states the group was formed on Aug 9, 2011 and was non-partisan.
