“I am happy (with the decision) and thank the party president for bringing this and other issues into the open, in order for the public to know that PKR is nothing but a spoiled brat.”

(NST) – PAS spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat yesterday likened PKR to a spoiled brat.

In a further sign that the ties between the Pakatan allies were strained, he said there was no need for Pas to follow PKR’s every whim and fancy.

Nik Aziz, who had, in the past, defended the actions of PKR and its adviser, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said Pas would face problems in the future if it continued to agree to the demands of its ally.

He also agreed with the statement by Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang on his decision to reject PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as Selangor menteri besar, saying the decision was spot on.

“The matter has been informed to us in the Syura Ulama Council.

“However, we did not disclose this to others as it would be unIslamic to do so.

Nik Aziz was commenting on several issues brought up by Hadi in a dialogue with party members at his base in Rusila, Marang, Terengganu, on Friday evening.

These included the party’s disagreement over the “Kajang Move” and the decision to drop Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as Selangor menteri besar.

Hadi had also said Dr Wan Azizah, who was named as a replacement for Khalid, was unfit to become menteri besar and denied that the party was gender-biased.

Nik Aziz said he was disappointed that Pas was not informed earlier when PKR decided to ask its Kajang assemblyman to resign to allow for a by-election.

He said he was also disappointed by PKR’s decision to drop Khalid for Dr Wan Azizah, as Hadi had stated.

“If I am the Selangor menteri besar, I will take the case to the courts, as it is an embarrassment. Why ask him to resign without justification?”

Later, Nik Aziz welcomed the readiness of Kelantan PKR to give way to Pas to contest the Pengkalan Kubor by-election.

“It is something that we had hoped for.

“I am confident that whoever is put up by the party will bring in a victory.”

Meanwhile, Pas sources said the party was considering at least two names for the by-election.

“It has been our desire to put our candidates based on the present situation, especially as we have people with better credentials,” said a source.
