(The Malaysian Insider) – Three Selangor executive councillors from PAS have been invited to have an audience with the state ruler from today until Wednesday, believed to be linked to the impending appointment of a new state menteri besar to replace incumbent Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

PAS state commissioner Iskandar Samad (pic) will be the first to the palace today, said sources, adding that Salehen Muhyi will have an audience tomorrow while Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi will have an audience on Wednesday.

The three PAS men were named by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang as his candidates for the menteri besar post in his first letter to the Selangor palace on September 2.

However, in the second letter Hadi submitted to the sultan, only Iskandar’s name was retained while the other two nominees were PKR assemblymen.

This was done after the Shura Council intervened in the MB impasse and decided on the three new candidates.

The appointments with the sultan come a day after PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu insisted the party would reject the menteri besar position even if it was offered the post.

“We”ll reject it,” he had told a press conference after chairing a PAS central committee meeting yesterday.

PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali added that yesterday’s meeting confirmed the menteri besar post was for PKR, and downplayed Iskandar’s nomination.

However, Hadi did not attend the meeting.

Later yesterday evening, the PAS Shura Council met and decided that Hadi has the final say in all matters concerning the party’s interests.

The council, comprising ulama, noted that the PAS constitution gave the party president responsibility over all party matters.
