At PAS Youth meet, outburst of support for MB Khalid
(Malay Mail Online) – PAS Youth delegates today voiced their support for Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, with the majority of them disagreeing that he should step down as Selangor mentri besar.
In his speech, Selangor PAS delegate Hanafi Zulkapli fired salvos at Khalid’s detractors, claiming that there no reason to question his capability and integrity as MB.
Although he did not name names, he is likely referring to Pakatan Rakyat (PR) parties PKR and DAP who have campaigned hard for Khalid’s removal as MB.
“Who here agrees that Khalid has lost his integrity? Stand, I say!” Hanafi said as all delegates remained seated.
Seeing this, he then added: “None of you say that Khalid has lost his integrity. Agreed?”
Hanafi’s remarks were met with a thunderous applause and table-thumping from most of the PAS youth delegates.
Hanafi also warned PR leaders that Selangor voters are analysing the MB crisis and that they arw not easily convinced by propaganda.
“Do not be like Umno…forcing people to accept things without accurate facts, through writings which form (certain) perceptions,” he added.
The PAS man thanked the four Selangor state executive councillors who still remain under MB Khalid’s administration, calling them “true heroes.”
“Unlike the two traitors who do not care about the party,” he said, referring to PAS state lawmakers Saari Sungib and Hasnul Baharuddin who broke party ranks and signed statutory declarations (SDs) supporting PKR president Datuk Sero Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s bid for the Selangor MB post.
PAS had initially submitted two names for the Selangor MB post — Dr Wan Azizah and PKR deputy President Azmin Ali — but their list has since been overtaken by a list of three undisclosed names personally submitted by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang two week’s ago.
PKR’s position remains the same — to stick with a single MB nominee until and unless there are further developments with the palace.
