Chaos at PAS Youth meet as delegates challenge party poll results
(Malay Mail Online) – The PAS Youth annual muktamar got off to a rocky start tonight as several delegates contested the validity of last year’s party election results that saw Suhaizan Kaiat elected as the wing’s chief.
The delegates alleged that last year’s election results were invalid as five divisions in Johor were allowed to vote even though these did not hold proper meetings.
The five divisions include Sembrong, Pengerang, Labis and Kulai. The fifth was not identified.
A Shah Alam PAS Youth delegate was the first to raise the matter, saying the party risked de-registration by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) for allowing the divisions to take part in the muktamar.
“Do you agree that last year’s election is illegal,” said PAS Youth Sabak Bernam delegate Mohd Labib Abd Jalil seconding his Shah Alam colleague’s claim.
The Shah Alam delegate refused to comment on the matter when approached by Malay Mail Online later.
The Youth muktamar was then halted abruptly for ten minutes, with the wing’s permanent chairman Kamal Ashaari promising he would bring the matter to the party’s national leadership for further action.
“Give me the mandate to take this up to the higher authorities tonight to decide,” said Kamal who burst into tears after finishing his sentence.
Kamal was later rushed to the hospital after complaining of breathing difficulties, according to party officials.
Delegates then continued with the debates on PAS Youth chief Suhaizan’s opening speech.
