Azmin Ali wants a review of water agreement, stresses good governance

PKR CONGRESS

(The Star) – All agreements made by the previous administration will be reviewed, said new Mentri Besar Azmin Ali.

This includes the contentious water restructuring agreement which was recently signed by former mentri besar, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, and the Federal government, sealing the final phase of the state’s water industry takeover.

“I will look at all the agreements, not necessarily on water but it is necessary for me to look at everything,” Azmin told reporters at his first press conference as mentri besar after being sworn in at the Alam Shah Palace on Tuesday.

Azmin said he was “not privy to the details of the agreement, so I will have a meeting with the relevant people and heads of department.”

He stressed that he would continue governing the state based on the foundation established by Khalid.

“It is my responsibility to continue these policies for the sake of the people and to ensure a stable government that is truly accountable and responsible,” he said.

Azmin, who is Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman and Gombak MP, said he would stress on good governance in developing Selangor.

“We will continue to strengthen the economy so that the people can benefit from it,” he added.
