Give ‘consolation seats’ to PAS, urges Zuraida

(The Star) –  Wanita PKR chief Zuraida Kamaruddin wants the Selangor exco line-up quota reviewed as PAS had not supported Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the sole candidate for the Mentri Besar post.

“My personal stance is that the allocation quota from each party should be reviewed since PAS did not support our MB candidate,” she told reporters at the party headquarters, Wednesday.

Under Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim’s administration, the Selangor executive council was represented by four PAS candidates and three each from PKR and DAP.

The formula was based on the performance of the parties in the 13th general election which saw PAS and DAP winning 15 state seats each and PKR, 14.

Zuraida, who is also Ampang MP, said that PAS should only be given “consolation seats” in the new exco line-up as the Islamist party had not thrown their support behind Dr Wan Azizah and not displayed solidarity.

PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who was also present at the party headquarters, said that it was totally up to new Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali to pick his exco members.

Azmin was sworn in as the 15th Selangor Mentri Besar on Tuesday and is expected to announce the new exco line-up on Thursday.
