MCA: Tony Pua’s statement is a joke

Chong Sin Woon says DAP is just as much to blame for the failure of the previous state government as PKR and PAS.

MCA Youth National Chairman Chong Sin Woon said Tony Pua’s statement that Azmin Ali’s appointment as the new Selangor Menteri Besar (MB) was a “fresh start to succeed where the previous administration failed”, was a joke.

He reminded Pua, who is the DAP Selangor chairman, that the previous administration Pua so happily criticised consisted of DAP state assemblymen who were equally responsible for approving state policies.

Chong pointed out that with 15 state assemblypersons, DAP was the biggest party, alongside PAS, of whom four were part of the state’s Exco and one a State Assembly Speaker, “totalling five DAP ADUNS wielding positions of power in the Exco and State Assembly”.

Chong also pointed out that while previously Pua was singing the praises of Khalid, now he was complaining that the previous administration had ignored the people while “sitting on a high pedestal”.

Chong said, “Any ‘failure’ experienced by the state government must also be the fault of the DAP.

“It is wrong for them to pin the blame solely on PKR and PAS.

Chong did however say this was not surprising coming from a DAP leader, as DAP had the tendency of pushing the blame onto others, especially Barisan Nasional.

“I urge Pua to remember that DAP is no longer in the opposition, but is now part of the state government,” Chong added.
