Selangor PAS: We did not agree to reduction in exco posts

(The Star) – Selangor PAS has refuted suggestion that the party agreed to a reduction in seats in the new line-up of the state executive council.

New Mentri Besar Azmin Ali on Friday announced that PAS had been allocated three exco posts from four it held in the previous administration. PAS was, however, given the deputy speaker’s post formerly held by PKR.

The other seats in the 10-member exco went to PKR (four) and DAP (three).

Selangor PAS secretary Khairuddin Othman said the party, at state and national level, never agreed to a reduction in the exco allocation.

“In our opinion, the expulsion of Dr Halimah Ali and Sallehin Mukhyi who have performed outstandingly (in the previous administration) is without basis,” he said in a statement.

Khairuddin said the new development does not augur well for the new leadership.

“However, PAS wants to ensure that Pakatan in Selangor remain stable and capable of carrying out the people’s agenda,” he said.

“Previously PAS’ excos remained in the government to ensure that the Pakatan government does not fall. Therefore, PAS will continue to defend the state govetnment,” he said.
