Anwar Ibrahim dodges questions on royal speech
(NST) – PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today coyly refused to respond to the Sultan of Selangor’s stinging rebuke against his party.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with newly minted Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali and PKR’s four state executive councillors, Anwar quickly dodged requests to react to Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah’s reprimand.
Apparently unwilling to respond, Anwar hurriedly put an end to the press conference after media personnel hounded him on the matter.
Anwar’s wife and PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah and the rest of the party leaders in attendance subsequently left the venue without uttering a word.
Earlier this afternoon, the state ruler had pinned the blame on PKR for causing the Selangor leadership crisis by initiating the so-called Kajang Move.
During the press conference, meanwhile, Anwar hit out at former Selangor MB Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim for allegedly failing to administer the state in a transparent manner.
Citing examples including the KIDEX highway, water deal and MB’s salary hike, Anwar said the new MB would seek to review all the aforementioned matters.
