New MB gets cake from Wan Azizah as show of support

(The Star) – With the new mentri besar having been installed following months of crisis, PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasised on Friday that PKR was united in its support for Azmin Ali to helm the state’s top job.

At a press conference after a meeting of the new PKR executive councillors and party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Anwar said Dr Wan Azizah even bought a cake for Azmin as a show of her support.

“It’s very rare that a party president buys a cake for the new Mentri Besar,” Anwar quipped at the party headquarters in Merchant Square.

There is this old joke about a competition to create a new party logo and the three winners were summoned to receive their prizes.

The winner for third prize was called to the stage to receive his prize and was given a one-week all-paid holiday for two to Hawaii.

The winner for second prize was called to the stage to receive his prize and was given a cake.

“A bloody cake? Just a bloody cake?” winner number two screamed. “Third prize is a one-week all-paid holiday for two to Hawaii and all I receive as second prize is a bloody cake?”

“That is not just any cake. That is a special cake. It was baked by the President herself,” said the host.

“Fuck the president!” screamed the disgusted second-prize winner again.

“Ah…but that is the first prize,” said the host.

Yes, there were three contestants for the prize of Selangor Menteri Besar and the first-prize winner is…Azmin Ali.

But then the winner for Selangor Menteri Besar does not get to…well, you know what…the president…of PKR, that is.

Instead, it was the other way around. He had to…well, you know what…the president to win the post of Selangor Menteri Besar.

The ex-State Assemblyman of Kajang, CC Lee, is suggesting that from the very beginning the plan was to appoint Azmin as the MB. That had always been the plan all along.

However, nine months ago, he said that the plan was to appoint Anwar as the MB. If the plan was to appoint Azmin all along then CC Lee need not have resigned and they need not have had a by-election in Kajang.

In fact, nine months ago, CC Lee said that he resigned only after he met Anwar to confirm that Anwar would be contesting the seat that he was about to vacate.

Nine months ago, they said that Anwar was going to contest the Kajang by-election not because they wanted to oust Khalid Ibrahim and replace him as MB.

Now they say that that was the plan all along since the very beginning, to oust Khalid and replace him — first with Anwar, and then with Dr Wan Azizah Ismail, and finally with Azmin.

So that was the plan all along, to oust Khalid and replace him with three people — Anwar, Dr Wan Azizah and Azmin.

Yes, that was the plan all along. And the winner is…Azmin Ali.
