Fate of ’errant’ PAS duo to be known on Oct 12
(MMO) – PAS will decide on whether to punish its Selangor assemblymen ― Saari Sungib and Hasnul Baharuddin ― for defying in Islamist party’s orders by pledging support for PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail’s last month.
The party’s secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali said that the central committee ― which is slated to meet on October 12 ― will decide if the two lawmakers will be hauled before the party’s disciplinary board.
According to The Star, Hulu Kelang assemblyman, Saari, and Hasnul, who is the Morib assemblyman, had explained their actions to Mustafa at the party headquarters yesterday.
“I will prepare the report for the PAS central committee. The central committee will decide of the next course of action,” said Mustafa, as quoted by PAS’ party organ Harakah Daily.
Saari and Hasnul had both signed statutory declarations supporting PKR’s nomination of Dr Wan Azizah, who is also the Kajang state lawmaker, to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, days before the PAS central leadership was to meet and deliberate on the issue.
