Anwar back in action as S’gor economic advisor
(The Malaysian Times) – Newly-minted Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali will retain Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the state economic advisor, a report said today.
When asked whether Anwar was sacked from the post, Azmin clarified that: “That is not the issue here. If we go through the Sept 22 meeting minutes, what was done is to close the economic adviser’s office.”
Former mentri besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid, as the closing act to his six-year tenure, closed down the state economic adviser’s office, held by Anwar.
Khalid had claimed that the closure of the office at Plaza Perangsang in Shah Alam was to save costs.
Anwar was appointed state economic adviser in 2009 and his office was placed under Mentri Besar Incorporated (MBI) for the state to benefit from his experience and expertise as former finance minister and deputy prime minister.
