Questioning Chinese schools with aim to abolish ‘seditious’, says Ti

(The Star) – It would be seditious to publicly question the position of Chinese primary schools with an intent to abolish them, said MCA Religions Harmony Bureau chief Datuk Ti Lian Ker (pic).

“Why single out Chinese vernacular schools?” he asked on Sunday.

Ti was responding to a call by Petaling Jaya Utara Umno deputy chief Mohamad Azli Mohemed Saad to discuss if Chinese primary school should be abolished at the party’s convention next month.

“I have made a gentle reminder to Umno not to breach the law of sedition or question status quo that’s guarantee by the Constitution,” said Ti.

He added that MCA would not take this lightly.

“We would not touch on the Malay privileges or the special position of Islam,” he said.
