(The Star) – The Oktoberfest festival at One Utama on Friday was moved from the mall’s ground floor open-air car park to a section in the fourth floor parking lot.

At 8.30pm, people were still lining up to gain entry to join some 3,000 already in the premises for the opening celebrations of the two-day Oktoberfest.

Earlier today, brewery Carlsberg Malaysia had posted an update on its Oktoberfest Facebook page that the location of the event had been moved to the fourth floor parking lot.

See Hoy Chan Holdings Group CEO, Tan Sri Teo Chiang Kok, said the event was a One Utama event with Carlsberg the beverage provider.

There was visible security presence at the mall and event personnel could be seen registering guests and media as part of the Petaling Jaya City Council’s requirements.

Several PKR and DAP MPs and assemblymen attended the event as a gesture of solidarity.

Oktoberfest in Malaysia had been severely criticised by a group of PAS leaders who wanted the Selangor government to relocate or cancel the event.

A billboard in Shah Alam publicising the German beer festival had been declared illegal.
