(Malay Mail Online) – Azmin Ali has denied that PKR had imposed conditions and clauses before agreeing to his appointment as Selangor mentri besar, and has dismissed the validity of a letter leaked online purportedly saying so.

The PKR deputy president stressed that his appointment was based on a collective decision reached by the party last month.

“Not true, it was the party’s decision,” Azmin was quoted by Sinar Harian as telling reporters yesterday.

An online blog had published a letter allegedly written by PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli which was addressed to Azmin.

According to the letter, Rafizi had purportedly laid down specific guidelines for Azmin to abide by if he wanted to become Selangor MB, and that PKR would have the power to sack him if he did not uphold the party’s interests.

The said letter was also emailed to PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

The online blog claimed that Azmin did not sign the letter.

Azmin was sworn in on September 23 as Selangor’s 15th mentri besar, taking over from former MB Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim who had held the post for more than six years from 2008.

Azmin’s appointment put an end to a protracted crisis that saw allies PKR, DAP and PAS pitted against one another.

Khalid’s administration has been long been criticised as “stingy” by his critics, especially those aligned to nemesis Azmin.
