Guan Eng: Penang will consult with legal team over PPS issue

(The Star) – Penang state government will consult with its legal team to initiate legal proceedings, seeking a judicial review against the declaration made by the Home Minister, said Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (pic).

The Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has declared that the Penang Voluntary Patrol Unit as an unlawful organisation on Nov 4.

Lim described it as a politically motivated attack against PPS and the state’s Pakatan Rakyat government.

“We categorically condemn the declaration made by the Home Minister,” he told a press conference at Komtar on Wednesday.

A total of 157 PPS members were arrested after taking part in the Merdeka Day parade at the Esplanade on Aug 31, and PPS has ceased its operation since Sept 1.
