Anwar’s new allegation of political conspiracy
If he is acquitted, will he still accuse the judges of being crooked?

Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Shafee Abdullah has raised the possibility of charging Anwar Ibrahim with contempt of court.
Anwar had earlier said, “I will not retire. But if I retire, maybe I will be acquitted,” basically meaning that the five judges who are hearing the appeal against his acquittal on the sodomy charge are corrupt or dishonest.
Corruption can come in many forms, not all based on monetary considerations. Nevertheless, corruption happens when you do something in return for certain inducements – cash, of course, being one of them. It could be for sexual favours, or for a promotion, or to avoid being charged for a crime that you committed, or whatever.
So, according to Anwar, the five judges will acquit him if he retires from politics and will convict him if he does not. Hence the five judges can be bought with Anwar’s resignation. And that makes them dishonest or crooked judges.
Anwar is now saying that the contempt of court proceedings being considered against him is a political conspiracy. When Anwar did accuse the judges of being dishonest or corrupt, how can that be a political conspiracy?
It was Anwar who accused the judges of dishonesty. So that makes it contempt of court. In fact, he can even be charged with criminal defamation.
