(Free Malaysia Today) – The increasingly controversial payout of RM2.5 million to eight ex-aides of former Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim, allegedly the night before he stepped down, was riddled with breaches of procedures, according to current MB Azmin Ali (pic).

Azmin has confirmed that an audit showed a breach of procedures in the payout and warned of stern action by the new board of Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) after it’s sworn in. The new board includes the Menteri Besar.

“The next course of action would be determined by the MBI,” said Azmin. “The audit on the payouts showed that the money was transferred in a short period of time and in breach of procedures.”

“The investigation showed that certain procedures were not adhered to in making the payouts and the large extraordinary amount needs to be re-considered.”

Azmin did not say whether the money was transferred electronically to Khalid’s aides at night on his last day as MB as alleged by PAS Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad on Thursday.

Already, the four PAS Exco members who served under Khalid in his last days as MB have since distanced themselves from the payout. Ahmad Yunus Khairy, Iskandar Abdul Samad, Halimah Ali and Sallehin Mukhyi have all confirmed in a media update that they did not endorse the payout, contrary to Khalid’s claim.

It was Seri Andalas state assemblyman Xavier Jayakumar who first hinted at the matter on microblogging site Twitter.

“Sel gov has instructed its state investment arm, MBI, to recover RM2.5mil given to former aids to TSKI?” the PKR political bureau member wrote using his Twitter handle @xavierjayakumar.
