Umno Youth: Human Resources Minister should always be Malay
(Malay Mail Online) – An Umno Youth representative today urged the party to return the post of human resources minister to ethnic Malays and to keep it reserved for them
“If need be, I want the Human Resources Minister Post to be returned to the Malays to safeguard our interest and fight for the Malay agenda,” Datuk Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin, the Umno Youth rep said , debating the motion on the economy at the Umno general assembly.
Datuk Richard Riot Jaem is the current Human Resources Minister.
He took over from Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam, who later became Health Minister.
“What’s lacking with the Malays who are polite, hardworking and respectful to their leaders?
“Don’t let the Malays feel that there is no place for hard working people,” he added.
He also said Malays are often discriminated in the private sector and that discrimination is worsening .
“I’m disappointed with some conglomerates and stakeholders in the corporate sector.
They seem not to not care about the racial imbalance of the Malays in the private sector,” Shaiful said, adding that discrimination towards the Malays have increased.
“CEO (chief executive officer) positions in private sectors for the Malays and Indians also needs to be balanced.”
Shaiful also called for the New Economic Policy (NEP) to be invoked and reinstated with a new look and “breath of life” for the interest of the Malays.
“NEP managed to distribute the country’s wealth fairly,” Shaiful said, also suggesting it be renamed as ‘NEP 2.0’, drawing parallel to election watchdog Bersih 2.0.
He also wants all economic policies not in favour of Malay development to be abolished.
