But assemblyman Amirudin says it’s a non-issue for Pakatan

(Free Malaysia Today) – Menteri Besar Azmin Ali has declined to comment on Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim’s loss of the “Dato’ Seri” title that the Selangor palace bestowed on him in 1992.

Azmin was cornered by reporters today at the Selangor Secretariat building, where he attended the launch of “Selangorku”, his administration’s initiative to provide low-income Selangorians with affordable homes.

All the Menteri Besar said was “no comments” when asked for his reaction to the Sultan’s decision to withdraw Anwar’s title, which was effective yesterday.

Batu Caves assemblyman Amirudin Shari was a little more forthcoming. He said it was a “non-factor” for Pakatan Rakyat in its struggle for reform and in its efforts to serve the people.

Neither did it disqualify Anwar from continuing in his function as Economic Adviser to the Selangor government, he added.

“If the position was based on titles, we would have appointed Tun Ling Liong Sik as our advisor,” he quipped, referring to a former MCA president.
