UMNO keeps Malays poor and ignorant to control them
Johor DAP delegate says the poor economic and educational standards among Malays in Johor is a ploy of UMNO’s to control them.

DAP Johor Vice-Chairman, Ramakrishnan Suppiah, today accused Umno of keeping Malays poor and ignorant so they could be easily controlled.
Delivering a speech at the DAP National Conference in Subang Jaya today, Ramakrishnan said, “UMNO keeps the Malays poor. UMNO keeps the Malays ignorant. Only then can they control them.
“If Malays are educated and have upward economic mobility, the Malays wouldn’t support UMNO anymore.”
Ramakrishnan also bemoaned the fact that most Malays in his state of Johor feared DAP, due to UMNO’s propaganda machine.
Saying, “We have to break UMNO’s control on Malays,” Ramakrishnan added that one of the initiatives DAP was undertaking in a bid to unseat Umno in Johor was to engage Malays in dialogue to assure them that their rights as Malays would not be threatened under DAP’s rule, as often claimed by UMNO.
