SUPP’s Christmas posters removed by council
(Borneo Post) – SUPP Miri saw red when its Christmas greetings posters were taken down by Miri City Council ( MCC).
Its Piasau branch secretary Karambir Singh said yesterday that the council’s action was uncalled for and unacceptable as the party had obtained approval for the hanging of the posters at several strategic locations in the city.
Three of the five posters, each with Barisan National and SUPP logos printed on it, were removed by MCC.
“We have not received any reason for the removal of the banners.”
The three banners taken down were initially hung at the city council football field here, Saberkas Commercial Centre, and Airport Road junction. The remaining two were in Lutong and Pelita Commercial Centre.
Karambir said it was unacceptable that a religious extremist removed a Christmas greeting banner in Peninsular Malaysia recently.
“But what is the difference between your own people or religious extremists taking it down?” he questioned.
