What Does Christmas Mean To Me?
We, the good people (liberals and fundamentalists) share a common agenda.

I am a Buddhist.
When I studied in the Methodist Primary School, Nibong Tebal, Seberang Prai (the former Province Wellesley), I attended Sunday school where we were taught to sing Hymns and were told stories from the Bible. I enjoyed Sunday school and Christmas carols. My parents were too busy to worry about proselytisation.
But one idea I am steadfast and not easily confused about is this: all religions are but different roads one chooses to take to be a good person. The foundation on which all religions rest is ‘peace and goodwill to all’. This is an irrefutable fact that both Liberals and Fundamentalists must accept. A failure to accept this simply means that one justifies hate and terrorism.
So you see, we, the good people (liberals and fundamentalists) share a common agenda.
Being Malaysian, brought up in a multi-racial environment, therefore I celebrate Christmas just as happily as I celebrate Hari Raya, Deepavalli, Chinese New Year etc. When Christmas comes around, my feeling is the same as if it were Hari Raya, Deepavalli, Chinese New Year, etc.
This is what Christmas means to me.
