(The Ant Daily) – Accused of only selecting personnel from his division in Nibong Tebal, Mansor is also said to have stopped other divisions of putting forward their recommendations.

Penang may have been spared the floods, but a political issue is brewing that threatens to erupt soon.

The issue may compel Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who is believed to be holidaying overseas, to return promptly as it is said to have the potential to harm the efficiency of the state’s administration.

It concerns the nomination of councillors to both Penang municipalities, scheduled to be disclosed next week.

Councillors in Penang are appointed to serve for a one-year term and usually, there would be an induction ceremony in January to welcome them and those retained on the board.

Here is where it gets interesting for Penang PKR although its strategic planning director Sim Tze Tzin was kind enough to inform that it was just a small matter involving two or three disgruntled divisional (cabang) heads.

The state has 13 divisions of which information made known to Theantdaily was that seven were unhappy with the process of selection as well as the role of the party’s political bureau.

The unhappiness was mainly aimed at state PKR liaison committee chairman Datuk Mansor Othman, who had once served as a political secretary to PKR founder Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Accused of only selecting personnel from his division in Nibong Tebal, Mansor is also said to have stopped other divisions of putting forward their recommendations.

A state PKR leader, who declined to be named due to the sensitive nature of this issue, alleged that there was no fairness and transparency in appointing the new councillors.

“It is becoming a joke as PKR’s principles are about upholding natural justice and transparency.”
