Khalid denies vote-buying in PKR polls
(Bernama) – Former Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has denied an allegation by former Kapar MP S. Manickavasagam of vote-buying during the PKR party election in May this year.
Khalid said the allegation had unfairly attacked his integrity as a candidate in the election and that he was issuing a statement to clarify the matter.
The former menteri besar said the amount of RM30 and RM20 mentioned were in fact food and transport allowances given to the volunteers in the administration of the election process.
He said Bernama had reported on May 11, 2014, on the PKR election through two articles titled “Kuala Selangor PKR Division election called off” and “Calon Ketua Bahagian PKR Dakwa Khalid Ibrahim Amal Politik Wang” that repeated Manickavasagam’s allegation that he (Khalid) had bribed voters to vote for him, he said in a statement here.
