‘Pay up’ letters tomorrow for Khalid ex-staff
(Bernama) – Letters of demand will go out tomorrow to eight former staff of Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to recover a total of RM2.6 million paid to them as compensation for termination of service.
The aides were employed on contract by Menteri Besar Incorporated.
Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, who took over from Khalid in September, said MBI’s new management will send a letter of demand to the eight as reminder to return the money.
“The letter of demand will be sent tomorrow,” said a MBI representative today.
Azmin had urged the eight former aides to return the money within 14 days from the date of the letter. He said the payment was made without following procedures and regulations.
The decision to recover the money was made after legal advice. He assured the eight people they would be paid compensation accordingly.
The RM2.6 million was paid at the end of Khalid’s term as menteri besar. Khalid has reportedly said the payment complied with MBI’s procedures and regulations.
