Perkasa asks Zahid: What’s in it for you?
Perkasa insists Home Minister reveal why he has asked the FBI to release Paul Phua despite him being charged for illegal gambling in the US.
(Free Malaysia Today) – Perkasa, the Malay NGO in the fringe, has disclosed that it has since been besieged with calls from its members on a supporting letter that Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi tendered to the FBI in the United States in a bid to secure the release of Paul Phua, an illegal gambling suspect, facing charges.
The letter was tendered in Court and reported by the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong.
Perkasa, in a statement, referred to a particular portion in the letter where Zahid implied that Malaysia wanted Phua to return as soon as possible since he had been helping the Home Ministry with several national security projects.
The question that Perkasa wants Zahid to answer is whether he’s getting” something” out of writing such a letter on behalf of an alleged felon. It was not so long ago that he accused Perkasa chairman Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman of criticizing the government “because he did not get something”, the statement added.
“We know that illegal gambling rakes in millions in Malaysia alone considering the number of slot machines in use,” said Perkasa Secretary Azrul Akmal Saharudin who signed the statement.
