PAS elder hits out at order for ‘Harakah’ editor-in-chief to resign
(The Rakyat Post) – Batu PAS man Ishak Surin has hit out at the order for Harakah editor-in-chief Ahmad Lutfi Othman to resign, calling it “unfair”.
It was recently reported that the PAS weekly newspaper Harakah had ordered Ahmad Lutfi to resign while he was still on sick leave.
Two associate editors of the publication, Tarmizi Jam and Roslan Hamid, also lost their jobs recently.
Ishak said there were no valid reasons to end the service of Ahmad Lutfi.
“It comes as a surprise. It is even more shocking when we realise that the order for the sackings comes at a time when PAS itself is in a volatile state, following conflicts between factions and leadership crisis.
“These conflicts have caused the sales of Harakah to plunge,” he said in a letter addressed to his party’s secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali.
He questioned the real motive behind the order for the sacking.
“Is this caused by the crisis and conflicts within the party and these people are just casualties of the woes?”
He requested for an explanation from Mustafa and asked for Harakah to be fair and be a responsible employer to its employees.
Ishak also reminded the administration of Harakah to follow Islamic principles on which PAS is based on.
