Dr M: Did I say anything about Najib?
‘My remark about dynastic tendencies was a general statement.’
(Free Malaysia Today) – Former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has declared that he stood by his advice against dynastic tendencies in Umno.
“I was merely giving a reminder through my blog that family ties cannot be the basis for selection or rejection,” he says in a new blog entry that responds to a remark by Umno Supreme Council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi.
Puad said on Wednesday that there was no “political dynasty or favouritism” in Umno, adding that Mahathir was off the mark if he was referring to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak because Najib got into politics after the death of his father, Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, Malaysia’s second prime minister.
“I didn’t say anything about Dato Seri Najib,” Mahathir writes. “I only made a general statement. If anyone has felt slighted, that’s his problem.
