Ismail Sabri was right on boycott, says Reezal Merican

(NST) – Penang Umno backed up former Domestic Trade Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob for his remarks on boycotting certain businesses.

Its deputy chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said Ismail Sabri’s comments were ‘truthful’ and was directed at errant traders who did not want to reduce their prices despite the reduced fuel prices at the pumps recently.

The Kepala Batas member of parliament said the remarks made by Ismail Sabri was not directed at the Chinese community as alleged by other parties.

“Ismail Sabri is a former minister in charge of consumerism.

“I am sure he knows what he speaks of. There is no issue of racism here, it’s purely consumerism.

“Please do not politicise the matter as he spoke on the capacity of a former minister,” Reezal Merican told reporters at a press conference at Wisma Umno in Kepala Batas.
