Federal minister wants to find out Selangor’s alternative plans after scrapping controversial highway

(Free Malaysia Today) – The federal government wants to have talks with Selangor menteri besar Azmin Ali about alternatives to the controversial Kinrara-Damansara highway Kidex, which the state government has rejected.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusuf, was quoted in media reports today saying that he would ask for a meeting with Azmin soon to discuss the state’s public works projects.

The ministry was eager to find out if the state had any alternative solutions to tackle traffic congestion in the state and other projects beneficial to the people.

“We will talk about the highway and other development projects planned by the federal government for Selangor,” he was quoted as saying. “If the people feel that Kidex is not suitable, we want to know what is,” he said.

The Kidex project was to be carried out under a concession agreement between the federal government and the developer, who would be granted the rights to collect tolls.
