(The Malaysian Insider) – PAS has denied sending out a statement asking its members and supporters to take part in the #KitaLawan rally, scheduled to take place in three locations in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow, news portal Suara TV reported.

The party president’s press secretary Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mohktar said Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang have yet to issue any statement on the planned rally and told members to ignore the circulated statement.

“There is no such statement issued by the president. He will come out with one soon,” he said.

The denial comes following a statement said to have be issued by the PAS president purportedly pledging support for the rally.

In the statement, Hadi was said to have urged party leaders and members to participate in the rally to show party’s solidarity with jailed opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, PKR and DAP.

The rally tmorrow is to push for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s resignation and to demand for Anwar’s release.

Anwar’s sodomy conviction and five-year jail sentence were upheld by the Federal Court on February 10. His supporters said it was a ploy to end his political career.
