(The Star) – Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (pic) has declined his nomination for the PAS presidency, saying the “unprecedented” challenge for the top post was not good for party unity.

“My nomination to challenge the post is a shock that will not build party unity,” said Tuan Ibrahim in a statement on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

He added that in PAS history, the president’s post had never been contested, especially in the Ulama era.

“It would be good if we, who support the Ulama leadership, continue to uphold it,” said Tuan Ibrahim.

Tuan Ibrahim added that there should not an internal struggle for top PAS posts similar to what can be observed in other parties.
