Govt to look into laws to extradite controversial Malaysians: Zahid Hamidi
(NST) – The government is looking at laws to extradite controversial Malaysians such as Raja Petra, Ali Abdul Jalil and Alvin Tan Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today.
In a written reply to Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Segambut) Zahid said the extradition process will take a long time as it involves complicated international laws.
“Such cases are delicate and we need to exercise with tact and caution because it involves the policies and laws of other countries and also international human rights laws,” Zahid said in the statement.
Zahid said Ali Abdul Jalil, Raja Petra Kamarudin and Alvin Tan are wanted for violating the 1948 Sedition Act and are believed to be in the United Kingdom, Sweden and the United States.
He added that Alvin Tan and Ali Abdul Jalil passports have been revoked.
