Zaid Ibrahim says the opposition alliance is making inappropriate demands by fighting the judiciary over the imprisonment of Anwar for sodomy.

(Free Malaysia Today) – Former law minister Zaid Ibrahim has lamented the stand Pakatan Rakyat (PR) has taken in the aftermath of their Opposition Leader’s imprisonment for committing sodomy, saying they just don’t want to move on.

“Pakatan is getting its knickers in a twist. A motion of censure against the judges is inappropriate,” Zaid tweeted yesterday.

He was commenting on PR’s move to file a motion to censure the judges who on February 10 found no reason to interfere with an earlier Court of Appeal decision which set aside the acquittal by the High Court and sentenced Anwar Ibrahim to five years in jail on a sodomy charge.

“They should instead move a motion to repeal sec 377 of the Penal Code. Decriminalise unnatural offences. That at least will help others,” he said referring to the motion PR filed under Standing Orders 27 (3) and 36 (8), and also under Article 127 of the Federal Constitution, with the intention to “condemn the actions and conduct of the Federal Court judges”.
