(The Malaysian Insider) – PKR is meeting tonight to decide its stand when PAS tables its private members bill to implement the Islamic penal code in Kelantan, said Mohamed Azmin Ali.

The party deputy president said it would scrutinise the Kelantan PAS Shariah Criminal Code 11 1993 (Amendment 2015), or hudud bill, before making an official stand on the matter.

“We will discuss first at tonight’s special meeting. I don’t want to speculate. Any decision must be based on facts and the current situation. We will issue a statement later,” he said today after attending a function this morning in Klang.

The Selangor menteri besar also said he had not known of PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s plan to table the private members’ bill in Parliament at its current sitting which ends April 9 to enable Kelantan to implement amendments to the state’s hudud laws.

The Malaysian Insider has sighted Hadi’s notice, which was confirmed by a senior party leader who said it was to amend Act 355 (Shariah Courts) which limits the powers of the court and is an impediment to implementing the hudud law.
